released October 31, 2020
A home session recorded in real-time during the multiple pandemic lockdowns of 2020. This little rough sketch, Love, features words from my diary, Adrift in Acheron. It is not mastered due to the national requirement to "stay at home". As a diarist, I feel we are in a place where we should not waste time focusing on perfectionism. This release is written/composed, created (including the artwork), performed, and published solely by (me) Lavinia Valeriana at home in Warwickshire. The spoken male verse is from (the spirit of) Aleister Crowley (and I must remember to throw that Ouija board out immediately). A Prelude from Death features a brief performance of an excerpt from Waltz No. 2 by Shostakovich. One of my favourite pieces because each time I hear it, an armies-worth of early Twentieth Century ghosts set about my imagination to dance in an opulent ballroom. On that note, I'll leave you with that thought.
