Love
Lavinia Valeriana
released October 31, 2020
No. 1 of 5 in a set of 'pandemic' home session records that I captured during the multiple (Covid-19) lockdowns (along with Seize the Thorns, (Toil and Trouble) Of the Wayward, and Lays Amidst Darkly Days, Vol. 1 & 2).
This little rough sketch, Love, features words from my diary, Adrift in Acheron. Like the other releases, this is not mastered or cleaned. As a diarist, I feel we are in a place where we need to just let things out and not waste time focusing on perfectionism.
This release is written/composed, created (including the artwork), performed, and published solely by (me) Lavinia Valeriana at home in Warwickshire. The spoken male verse is from (the spirit of) Aleister Crowley. A Prelude from Death features a brief performance of an excerpt from Waltz No. 2 by Shostakovich. One of my favourite pieces because each time I hear it, an armies-worth of early Twentieth Century ghosts set about my imagination to dance in an opulent ballroom. On that note, I'll leave you with that thought.
